Gull Cottage at Lighthouse Road> HikingIt is impossible to have a dull hike around St Martins,
as there is so much to explore. Quite apart from the beaches and trails,
a walk down to the village along West Quaco Road takes you across
the salt marsh, which is a Ducks Unlimited conservation area. Turning
left from the head of the driveway takes you to the end of Lighthouse
Road where there is Quaco Head Lighthouse, a featured New Brunswick
lighthouse, although fully functional. The Fundy Trail is spectacular at any time of year, and what could
be a better way to spend the day than to hike along the trail, stopping
at the many vantage points to take in breathtaking views of the bay.
Looking straight across the opposite side, you can see Gull Cottage
nestling under the headland. Take some time to cross the suspension
bridge over Salmon River, and if you are starting to get tired and
thirsty at this point, then a cup of coffee or a cool drink is not
far away, at the Interpretive Centre.
