Hunting for antiques is always fun, especially if that ‘special bargain’ buy can be found. Although this pastime is followed by more and more people with more knowledge, it is still possible to discover some real finds.

Yardsales can still be a good hunting ground, as you never know what might be on offer. The saying ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ still holds good. Look for flyers around the village, or in the local stores.

The Bargain Barn, Route 111 to Sussex (grey barn right hand side of road with signs outside) has two floors of assorted items, antique and house clearance. Certainly worth a visit. (506) 433 1320.

Once a month at the Trade and Convention Centre, Market Square, Saint John, Tim Isaac, Auctioneer of Saint John has an auction sale of fine antiques, ceramics, prints and carpets and all other collectibles. The Sussex Flea Market is held in August, in Sussex. This is a large out of doors all day event with lots of stalls from car spares and bric a brac to collectibles.
